Question:
How do I send mass emails using Precis?
Answer:
How to send email marketing campaigns using Precis.
Location: Marketing > Email Messages
Overview: Send mass marketing emails through the Precis Marketing Manager. Key points of information:
- Email lists are built on the fly using a combination (union, intersection) of defined groups and/or accounts.
- Each recipient will receive a single email, even if they are on multiple lists, or in multiple accounts.
- All emails sent are HTML format.
Process: Sending an Email Message
1. Mailer Information:
- Go to Marketing > Email Messages (located in the top left of the Precis interface)
- Locate the message to be sent. Click the "Send" button.

- The "Mailer Name" will be pre-populated with the name of the message you will be sending. The recipients will not see the mailer name. It is for purposes of organizing and reporting only.
- Enter a "Subject" for the email. Recipients will see this as the subject of the email in their email client.
- Enter a "From Name" for the email. This will be seen as the name of the person sending the email to the recipient list.
- Enter a "From Address" for the email. Important - this must be a valid email address. Most email servers will confirm that inbound email messages are coming from valid email addresses to reduce SPAM.
- Select a "Message Type". A "Real Message" will be send to the recipients you select. A "Test Message" will just be sent to you.
2. Marketing and ROI/Conversion Tracking:
- Select to either create a new ad/tracking code in an existing campaign or use an existing ad/tracking code already in the system. Note, if you wish to use triggers through your ad codes, the ad must be created before sending the email so the correct trigger can be appended to the email message. If you create new ad/tracking code you will also need to select a partner. Most emails are "Internal or Direct" unless you have acquired the list from a partner and would like to track via campaign AND partner.

3. Recipients:
- Use the groups picker to select the groups, lists, and/or accounts you would like to send the message to. If a contact is in multiple groups and/or accounts, they will still only receive one message.

- By checking the "Suppress Contacts" box, you may define additional rules on your receipt list in order to exclude the union of certain behaviors including having received the email message in the past or having converted in orders or leads as a result of an email marketing campaign.
Click the "Continue" button.
4. Confirm and Send:
- Review your message information including Subject, From Name and From Address
- Review your message in the preview window.
5. CAN-SPAM / Opt-in Compliance
- Check the boxes to confirm that you approve of the message to be sent and that your message is compliant with applicable laws related to email marketing and SPAM.

Click the "Send Message" button.
Your message will now be queued to send to the recipients that you have selected. Depending on the size of your list, the delivery time may range from a few seconds to several hours.
