Coupons can be easily created in Precis to apply to an entire order, a specific product, or Buy-One-Get-One sale.
Location: Marketing > Coupons and Promotion Codes (in Useful Tools section)
Overview: There are number of ways a coupon or promotion code can be used to pass discounts and incentives to your customer. These coupon codes can be shared with your audience for them to apply at checkout, or be associated with Triggers to be automatically applied without them having to enter a code. There is no limit to how many coupons can be created or how long they last.
Process:
1. From the Marketing Dashboard in Precis, scroll down to the Useful Tools section in yellow and click, "Coupons and Promotion Codes."

Click the "Create New Coupon" button.
2. From the drop-down, select the appropriate coupon-type:
- BOGO AKA Buy-One-Get-One: Specific products can be selected for a BOGO promotion, which will automatically add a second product to the customer's cart, free, upon entering the code at checkout.
- Entire Store: Great for general sales or targeted audience promotions. For example, the customer would receive 10% off their entire order, no matter what products they chose, upon entering the code at checkout.
- Product Specific: Only certain products you choose will be discounted. For example, "All Toshiba DVD's are currently 20% off!"
- Reference Code: While this doesn't typically contain a sale or incentive, a reference code is entered to track how the customer found the site. For example, if the customer received your catalog with the reference code printed on it, they would enter that at checkout to signify internally where they came from.
- Trigger: Coupons that are automatically applied to a customer's order, as long as they are funneled to the site from a specific ad or link containing the trigger coupon.
3. Enter the rules for the coupon

- Coupon Description - enter a name or description for the promotion you are running. This is for your organizational purposes only.
- Number of Coupons - can be used in instances where invidual coupons can be assigned to individual customers for extremely detailed tracking. Simply set a prefix for the coupon code, and Precis will automatically generate X-amount codes to append to your prefix. For example, if you wish to create 3 coupons for one promotion, enter the prefix, "Coupon" and Precis will generate three unique codes: "Coupon123, Coupon124, Coupon125."
- Amount - Set the specific incentive to take place. Either a dollar-amount off, or a percentage.
- Min. Purchase Amount - How much must the customer spend before being eligible to use the coupon?
- Expiration Date - Optional, the coupon can be set to expire and no longer usable to customers after a specific time period.
- Allow Multiple Uses - Checking this box ensures more than one person/instance can use the coupon. If you are sharing the promotion with multiple people or audiences, this box must be checked.
- Status - Coupons can be activated or deactivated internally. Even if a coupon is set to not expire, if you set it to Inactive, it will not work for the customer.
Once your rules are entered, click the "Submit" button.
4. Create the coupon code. This is exactly what will be entered by the customer (or automatically via Trigger) at checkout for them to redeem their discount. Be sure to make the code easy to remember and replicate, and somewhat relevant to the sale.

For Entire Store, Trigger, or Reference Code coupons, you are done.
Result: When the customer is in the checkout process of their order, they will be presented with a field to enter the coupon code you have created, which will apply the designated discount to their order.
The following are the steps for BOGO Coupons:
1. Back in the coupon creation screen, select BOGO from the Coupon Type.
- Amount of Discount & Min. Purchase Amount need not apply, since the person only has to purchase a specific product to take advantage of the BOGO sale. Leave these fields blank.
2. Enter your coupon code.

3. The next screen you will see is a summary of the coupon rules you have set for the BOGO promotion, and a file-picker to select the specific product on special.

- Search for the applicable product within your Precis catalog, and click the "Update Products" button.
- You will now see the product you have selected for the promotion.

Result: When the customer places the specific product in their shopping cart and enters the coupon code you have set, a second same product will be added to their order for free.
For Product-specific coupon types, repeat steps as in BOGO coupon-type to apply sales to only one product. Rather than another same product being placed in their cart after entering the coupon code, the percentage or dollar amount you specify will be discounted.
